This is a chance for visitors of all ages to learn the art of making inaka sushi from a local Kochi resident. Kiatagawa Village is known for producing delicious yuzu citrus fruit, a critical ingredient for making inaka sushi. So you will basically be enjoying this dish at its source!
Heavily plant-based and gluten-free, this inaka sushi food experience will satisfy a diverse palate. Learn to make five types of this veggie-based sushi and following the lesson, eat your creation for lunch. A perfect way to make friends with the locals and learn a new and unique skill.

Details of Tour / Activity
This cooking class allows you to try your hand at making inaka sushi (“countryside sushi”), a popular local dish in the mountains of Kochi. This type of sushi uses locally grown yuzu citrus fruit for flavoring, and you will receive culinary instructions on the traditional methods of preparation.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary restrictions can also be catered for, if advance notice is given. (Please be sure to inform us when registering for the workshop)
At the start of the class, you will be briefed on the ingredients used in making inaka sushi. During the yuzu season, if the weather is good, you can also take a walk and try your hand at pressing the citrus fruits.
Next, you will be given the chance to make five types of sushi, whilst receiving instructions from the local teacher.
At the end of the class, please enjoy eating your sushi creations for lunch along with some other local dishes.
