Pacific Horizon and Coastal Secrets by E-Bike
Guided Tour of the Ashizuri Peninsula
Ashizuri remains one of Japan's lesser-known destinations. This cycling tour lets you experience the dramatic natural landscapes and culture hidden at the southernmost tip of Shikoku. From strangler figs to historic mansions and the boulder-strewn coast, memories of this trip will stay with you for years. Even if you visited on your own, the sights here would amaze you. With the help of an expert local guide, you will also learn the fascinating history and culture of this remote territory. Even if you are not confident in your stamina, the electric-assist bicycles allow you to cruise up hills with ease while enjoying the scenery. For lunch, we provide local food that lets you fully immerse yourself in the flavors of the region.

Details of Tour / Activity
Meet your guide in front of the hotel. She will give you a brief lesson on how to use the e-bikes. Don’t worry, it’s easy! After a short introduction and safety briefing, it’s time to ride.
Climbing up from your hotel, the route opens onto a scenic road with views of the town, coast, and the sea beyond. Soon, we will descend into town toward our first rare sight: a spectacular grove of strangler figs. These ancient trees, also known as banyans, wrap around and envelop neighboring trees, forming an otherworldly lattice of descending roots and trunks. Next to this magical forest sits a historic shrine that doubles as a traditional theater. With the help of your guide, you can crawl beneath the stage to see the fascinating inner workings of the rotating theater above.
Our ride has just begun, and we have many things yet to see. Continuing through a maze of narrow streets, we will arrive at a historic mansion—the former residence of wealthy Meiji-era traders. This mansion remains preserved in its original condition, and your guide will take you inside for an exclusive look.
As we pedal onward, we will see many more sights, too numerous to list, while learning about the hardy people of this area. After a morning of riding, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch. Our journey continues in the afternoon with a stop at a local coffee shop. Then we will continue with many more beautiful and historical sites, before looping back to your hotel.
